St Joseph's Tenterfield


The school curriculum includes the following Key Learning Areas (KLAs):

  • Religious Education (RE)
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science & Technology
  • Creative Arts
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
  • Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) – History (one semester) and Geography (one semester)

This school follows the NSW Australian Curriculum. The Armidale Catholic Schools Office mandates the teaching of seven Key Learning Areas each with the following allocation of time each week:

English – Approx. 480 minutes per week

Mathematics – 300 minutes per week

HSIE – 90 minutes per week

Science & Technology – 90 min per week

PDHPE – 90 minutes per week

Creative Arts – 90 minutes per week.

The effective teaching of Literacy and Numeracy skills is one of the highest priorities at St Joseph’s.

The Armidale Catholic Schools Office requires that 180 minutes of Religion be taught each week in its schools.
