Curriculum
At St Joseph’s we honour our commitments to Catholic education through the provision of high-quality educational programs by which each student is encouraged to reach their full potential.
We are a community of learners working collaboratively and creatively to achieve excellence through academic goals in an environment that empowers all.
The K-6 Curriculum is based on the NSW Education Standard Authority NESA Curriculum. A variety of teaching and learning styles are implemented to facilitate student learning across each stage including explicit teaching, small group instruction and opportunities for independent tasks.
There are seven Key Learning Areas taught from Kindergarten to Year 6. These include:
- Religious Education
- English
- Mathematics
- Science & Technology
- Creative Arts
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
- Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) – History (one semester) and Geography (one semester)
THE EFFECTIVE TEACHING OF LITERACY AND NUMERACY SKILLS IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST PRIORITIES AT ST JOSEPH’S.
To support our learning priorities we have uninterrupted English, Mathematics and Religious Education blocks.
